First Impressions for February

I have started a venture into a few new things this month, let’s talk about them…

Let’s start with my most recent Sephora purchases:

Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

I purchased this after hearing about it from a YouTuber I follow. The thing that piqued my interest was “fast absorbing” because I am an impatient person and I hate putting clothes on when I feel wet or sticky and don’t find it very fun to sit around waiting for lotion to sink into my skin. But I’m realizing the importance of taking care of myself and my skin and that moisturizing would be a good step towards that.

I absolutely LOVE the smell, it’s sweet and I have no other descriptive words for it because I’m terrible at discerning scents. And yes, it’s surprisingly very fast at absorbing! And a little can go a long way. I was immediately impressed with it in every way! I’m definitely buying the bigger tub as soon as I run out of this smaller one.

Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation (with brush)

That is a lot of words. I tried buying this a couple years ago, got the completely wrong color so I really haven’t used it much at all. I wanted to love it though, because I do often buy the Amazonian Clay 12 Hour foundation and the Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer and love both dearly. I got this in the shade Fair-Light Neutral, because I usually get Fair or Fair Beige usually in the other shades (I cannot pinpoint my “undertones” but I think they lean towards pink? I think my skin is just void of any pigment anyway). It seems a little too orange but barely noticeable. I’m still perfecting how to apply it because I tend to make it a bit patchy. I think this particular brush is needed for it too. For the most part, I am enjoying it though.

Devilman Crybaby

I’ve heard this anime mentioned a few times, but beyond that I hadn’t heard much. I did hear it’s absurd. I’m two episodes in, can confirm it is a very crazy, intense ride. It’s pretty much over-the-top crazy but I’m interested for sure. I kind of like that sort of thing, being ridiculously crazy while maintaining a decent story. It doesn’t feel too much like it’s all shock-value stuff. It probably isn’t everyone’s cup of tea either so I don’t know if I’d really recommend it, but I can say I’m going to finish watching it and hope for more!

Gravity’s Rainbow

Aj had read this book a couple years ago (or maybe it took him a couple years to get through?) and he would occasionally tell me stories from it and they sounded ridiculous and interesting and I loved hearing them! So I finally made the decision, after being on a much too long hiatus from reading, to pick up this book, or rather, I should say I’m listening to it! I occasionally do have to pause the audio, go back and read a bit to understand what’s happening, but I’d also say that the way it’s read (by George Guidall) is helpful too. I was aware it would be a tough read but that’s half the fun of it I think.

I’ve also been enjoying over the past couple weeks seeing a lot of the films up for Academy Awards this year; The Shape of Water, Call Me By Your Name, I,Tonya, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, The Florida Project… I still would like to see Phantom Thread too! It’s been pretty fun seeing all these movies, many in theaters. Makes me remember why I enjoyed going to the cinema. I’ve missed that!

That’s all for now! Feel free to leave suggestions of other things I should try!
